Hiking @ Grand River Trail

One of the places recently caught my eye to explore is Grand River Trail. I did not know that this trail is more than 275 km between Rock Point Provincial Park, Ontario on Lake Erie to the town of Alton, near Orangeville, Ontario.(1) I really got impressed and felt proud that at least a part of this trail passes through KW.

So, I searched a bit for a map of this trail and found these maps for the parts in the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, plus this vague map of The Walter Bean Grand River Trail. Having these maps and my "2008 Cycling Facility Map", which I found the most reliable of them!, I started my hiking on this Saturday. According to Walter Bean map, I covered the following parts of the trail: (13) Bridgeport, (14) Kiwanis Park, (15) Kaufman Flats.

I really got surprised when I figured out that some parts of the trail are within private properties with "No Trespassing sign", though apparently the hikers/bikers did not care too much about it! So, for later reference, I thought it is worth putting here the map of the trail that people practically use. All the other maps that I found do not determine where the trail exactly goes. I tried to show the tricky non-sense parts of trail though.

I should keep it on my mind to go back to this part of trail later in winter for x-country skiing. It should be a nice trail for this purpose too.
